Planning: Picking The Song (Contingency Plan)
The requirements for a song going forward were:
1. A song that my partner especially was familiar with, so she could lip-sync effectively without it looking awkward,as she was acting for our music video.
2. A song that was less than 2:30 in duration.
3. A song that could be filmed entirely inside.
The choices were:
1."Fell In Love With A Girl": (by The White Stripes – 1:50 a song which was mostly filmed in a single location, focusing on minimalism.)
2."Hard to Explain": (by The Strokes – 2:00, Features indoor scenes that complement the song's fast-paced rhythm.)
3."Such Great Heights": (by The Postal Service – Duration: 2:20, A relaxed indie-electronic track with a video that largely takes place indoors, using minimal sets and focusing on the song's emotional tone.)
4."Jumping Fences" - The Olivia Tremor Control (1:52, Indie Rock/Psychedelic Rock),This short, upbeat song immediately stood out as an almost perfect choice. The imagery of a "lazy man" and references to drugs sparked the idea of a tongue-in-cheek theme, where our character procrastinates on their work—something, my partner admit to do it herself. As we move into production, my partner anticipated this project will be deeply cathartic.
